I am new to the forum and need some help.
I'm ditching my 66 bronco project to build the fairlane that I've had for 24 years. My grandfather bought it for me for $2.35 when the neighbor lady That I had bugged for the car since I was 5, hit my road bike with it when a wheel cyl. dumped her brake fluid. At 80 plus years old, she thought it was time to quit driving. since then it's gone from 38,000 mi. to 75,000mi. as a spare family car. Sadly grandpa passed on a couple of weeks ago and it bugged him that we never did anything with the fairlane. So, in honor of the man that raised me, were selling off all the projects and spare cars to "piss this thing off".My first order of business is to sort out a suspension.I've seen mustang front susp. conversions for other early fords, but not the 63 fairlane. Can that be done?I also like the indie disc brake rear from the t birds. Has anyone built a subframe for this app.?I'm leaning towards something more along the line of a vintage autocrosser, as that is my favorite form of pavement racing and that was a neat era for autocrossers.I've got alot of ford goodies like a 11" disc 9" out of a lincoln,a couple aod/302 h.o. setups, and a small block c-6 truck tranny so if anybody wants to do some trading,I'm all for it.I'm located in Boise, ID. And will greatly apreciate any info., advice, or opinions.

Thanks in advance,

JAG

Hey Jag, I'm new here to. Just picked up a new project. 63 fairlane wagon. My plan is to work with what I got. Granada disc change up front,5.0 aod swap and just drive it. But I do like the rack and pinion idea to eliminate the towers though. I also have a pinto stub so that last post relly lights me up. good luck joe

see the new HoRod mag with the NASCAR 64 Fairlane?? That would look sweet to do a 63 autocrosser!!
I built my own front end set-up.. but there alot of them out there being made, just look around like @ where 351bolt says.. you can pics of my wagon front end with removed shock towers on my web site

I picked up the new hot rod mag today. That 64 fairlane kicks ass! Does any body know about the windshield seal in that? I don't want the stainless look, but I don't think it'll look right painted either.I wish they had more pics of the suspension. It sounds interesting. The aluminium dash is way cool too.
