One major problem I have been facing since ordering the front/rear quarter panel patches from Ecklers is the fender "flair". The original has a much more pronounced curve, and the patch panel is a bit more flat. More body work, more sanding...

Got the fender and quarter extensions in primer. Also started refinishing the SS trim as I go.

Unfortunatly this is the part where a lot of work is going on but it looks the same from day to day, kinda like groundhog day. Prime, guide coat, block......repeat. This side needed a bit more attention with the shaved door handle, shaved gas door, shaved side marker and front and rear quarter replacement.

Back to sanding.......

Today's progress.....

Driver side blocked to 120. Next step, spin this thing around and get the passenger side in the same shape. 2 more rounds of high build poly, 120, 220, 320, 400, 600 guide coating in between grits.

The plan is to gap the fenders, doors and hood once the jambs are all painted (off the car).

Beautiful work! Are you going to install an electric trunk release w/popper? If so what are you going with?

Keep up the great work and the updates!

Today was a day of deciding my door, trunk, fender, hood and firewall jambing approach. It was nice to pull the cardboard from the windows, but that lead to more cleaning. I can't stand to look at the exposed stuff dusty and dirty. I know it's gonna get that way again, but........ADHD strikes again.
Just a reminder of what is to come...

A great example of what I would like my back seats to look like with a much narrower center console. Thanks ShotRod for the link.

Ever have one of those "not so great days at work" and you know better than to tackle anything that marginally matters.......Cleaning always brings me instant gratification.

Prepping the front end for 2nd to last masking. Frame touch ups, mask, 2 final coats of high build on the entire car, final blocking, unmask and then it's time to mask for paint :)
