Honestly? the truck looks too nice to be a fixer upper.
If it was me, I'd knock out the dent, recenter the bed (because it's majorly misalighned), fix the brakes, make sure it steers well, and drive the crap outta it.
If you are really worried about appearance, scuff it up and get someone to shoot it on the cheap. Even if the paint job only lasts four years, that is long enough to drive the heck outta it.
The interior is really nice on that truck too.... actually with the exception of the paintjob it's nicer than my 76, which is my daily driver.
The paint job really doesn't bother me I was just planning on a cheap matte paint job. I am just gonna get rid of the rust behind the grill and towards the back then do the rest of what ya said. Also maybe do some performance upgrades here and there.
yeah right Fe.... relooking at the pictures that seems to be more the case.
It must just be a common thing that a fat guy drives a truck and kills the driverside seems like every truck I get is 2inches lower on that side.
For more power a good 390 and a set of gears can really make these trucks run hard. Nothing wrong with a 360 tho.
That is a nice old truck. Nothing wrong with the 360 engine in a truck. It was built to make torque. Those may be the original magnum look hub caps also. They came with a center plate that said Ford Motor Company or something on them. The plates apparently were not glued well and had a tendency to sling off. I scrounged for ages and found all the plates. I had a whole set of those with the center plates and sold them to somebody in Oregon.
Yeah the guy i bought it from did have a pretty good beer gut going on, haha. I wouldn't mind finding a 390 for it and yeah they are the original hub caps but sadly i am missing the original ones wish I could find the set.
