610 HP @ 6800 rpm
544 ft lbs TQ @ 5100 rpm.
351W w/eagle stroker kit #14127.= 418 cubes
Compression ratio 12.4 to 1. (with aluminum heads, theoretically 11.4 to 1).
Crane solid lifter cam. 640-650 lift, 272-276 duration. 106 centerline.
Super vic intake.
Biggs prepared 950 HP
MSD ignition
Hooker super comp headers, 2" primaries, 3.5" collectors
Melling oil pump
Canton oil pan
FMS water pump/stud girdle
Probe rocker arm girdle
FMS rocker covers
Harland Sharp roller rockers
Ed Curtis prepared AFR 205 heads.

what rpm are you planing on your shift point? i have a simular set up and the thing want to shift at 7,200 to 7,400 can they take it??

Gheesh. I'm sorry I didn't reply earlier. I just now got back to this forum.
I had it to the track once, and was so bummed by the piss poor traction that I barely paid any attention to where I was shifting at.
I believe, (not sure), that I shifted either at 7100 or 7200 a couple of times. It hadn't 'fallen off'/leaned over' yet, but I shifted anyway.
I'm planning, (weather permitting), to go 8th mile test'n tuning saturday, (may 4th), so I'll have plenty of time to figure out shift points, (hopefully), at that time.
Again, I didn't really have a chance to 'let her air out'.
AS far as 'taking it'? I would have no problem winging mine to 7500-7700 if it was still pulling to there. Eagle parts. Internally balanced.....If it's making power, why shift?????????????

Let's say my max torque is at 5200rpm and my max HP is at 6200rpm. It seems to me that if torque is what moves you foward, and if I'm no longer pushing my vehicle foward after 5200rpms, why not shift to the next gear? Seems like it would save on the motor to me. And better your 1/4 mile time.

HP is a function of Torque. Basically, its the amount of work that is done - given a certain number of revolutions, and a certain force, you're doing more work. So if you're making half as much torque at twice the RPM, you're doing the same amount of work as doing the half the RPM and double the torque. So though your torque curve starts to decrese, you are still doing more and more work than previously because your RPM continues to climb. When you're not moving, RPM doesn't play a part in the equation, and the torque is what gets you off the line.

If it is an auto, and he runs slicks, it will need a decent convertor. I bet the convertor companys recomend atleast a 5000 stall with that big cam, so he will need to be revving that sucker to make it all work together.(assuming its an auto ofcorse)

Where do you guys dig these old posts up from?
For cripes sakes, this was done in 2001.
I've gone thru 2 different engine builds since then.
Read when the posts were made.
I guess I should have come back and deleted this one a while ago.

Since then, I"ve made over 711 horse with same basic setup. And the car's run a 9.69 @ 140 n/a.
Yes, it's an automatic, YEs, I run slicks, YES, it's a dragstrip only car.

Only diff from last year is DART block, Reworked heads, HUGE isky solid roller cam, and port matched intake/flowed intake.
704 hp @ 7100 rpm, and 560 tq @ 5600.

Fairly satisfied........................

.030: over, AFR 205 heads, Biggs prepped 950 holley, Hooker super comp headers, 2" primaries, NOW< 3" collectors.
Ross pistons, 14 to 1 compression. Harland Sharp roller rockers. Probe stud girdle (valves).

FMS rocker covers, timing chain setup.

ALL Arp bolts/nuts/used thruout.

All MSD igntion, (7al box/procoil). FMS plug wires.
Moroso water pump.
Canton oil pan.
Melling oil pump (HV).

That's all I can remember off the top of me head.

If you want cam specs, I can scan the sheet and send it to ya. (along with the dyno sheet/graph).

Only reason I came back to this site was to set THIS post straight. Kept getting 'alert , alert', you've had a response to a post...........drives me nuts.

but yeah.............it's not really a different user name, just a temporary, fix problems, etc.
