I pulled the oil pan off of my 64 Galaxie 500 XL. It's a 352FE 4V, mostly stock. In the bottom of the oil pan I found a hand full of what looks like little plastic gear teeth(see picture). Anybody have any idea what the heck these are from or what they might be doing in the oil pan of my car?

It's plastic, I thought it would be steel. I'll check it out.

My dad had replaced the timing chain recently, could be he replaced the sprocket as well. He's out on a date with my mother so I'll give them a call and make sure he didn't sneak a plastic gear in there on me. (There are 36 teeth, so that fits with being a timing sprocket)

Spoke with the previous owner(my dad), he confirmed that the previous gear had the fiber teeth. He replaced it with alloy steel sprocket. Funny thing though, the one he took off was only missing two teeth, so I believe the timing sprocket had been replaced before, as I found 35 teeth in the oil pan. Thanks for the help identifying the pieces.
