I purchased a project car recently, a 66 Fairlane, that had the motor, a 302 from a 87 Mustang, mostly assembled and installed in the car. It only needs some final items installed like the pulleys, Alt, distributor cap, wiresn and fuel lines. I was wondering what things I should look for and what might be a good book to help with the starting of this motor. I was thinking I would at least pull the valve covers, check the heads and just go from there. Any other thoughts?

"How to Rebuild Your Small Block Ford" by Tom Monroe is an excellent reference for rebuilding these engines.
