Hi,

New to your forum. Nice posts about C4s.

I am looking to put a C4 behind a mildly built 300 in a 65 F100. Rarely a little towing, but carefully. Mostly just cruising, as the truck is restored. Not going to the strip, but I do want longevity and reliability.

I read that the C4 can handle this, but a couple local builders here in Kansas City gave me the "oh you need a C6" response, which tells me they don't know what they are doing.

I'd like a local recomendation or I am also willing to have it shipped to me from a reputable builder.

Thanks for your advice/recomendations in advance.

David

I had a very pleasing conversation with Jay at Broader. When you consider that the local shops here wanted about $600 to rebuild a C4, without core, and he will rebuild one, with specific mods and adjustments aimed toward my truck with a 300 (low rpm and torque), for around 800 with core, then its a no brainer.

Best of all was his willingness to chat about what he does and why. You can tell when someone is doing something they enjoy doing, as opposed to just to make $$.

Still wish there were some shop in Kansas City, but at least this seems to be a good option if I need to order one out.

Thanks for rec.

Appreciate the info thus far. I have chatted with someone at Jackson's Performance on ebay. They seem reputable, but selling on ebay worries me. Broader is a better bet I'd think. But perhaps someone beggs to differ.

I do NOT want to do a tranny swap twice. Waaaaaay to much hassle. So guarantees are nice, but not the whole story.

I will have to call the fellow in Independence as well.

Thanks.....

I bought a bell housing from broader and when i got it was a dinged up,helocoiled, painted up junk yard piece. By the way the paint is already flaking off with less than 4 hours of running!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't buy anything but traded a couple of emails with Jay about his #9 kit; he seemed very willing to share info on a kit he had pioneered. That indicated to me he is a reasonable person. I'd call him on the bell. If it is a POS, he should get a chance to make it right.
