Bought a ford 9" that needs a rebuild. It was under a 55 chevy and thats what I am putting it back in. Problem is, it has what seems to be a factory 31 spline clutchless posi unit in it with factory 3.55 gears. Did ford make this type of locker?

I know 3 months ago you posted, but you never got an answer. Posi/Equalock had clucthes, Detroit Lockers didn't. They ratchet.

With both axles out , if you look through the tubes and don't see a "cross shaft" in the diff , you have a Detroit locker or spool. If you see a cross bar , you have clutches or an open.

Could also be a Detroit Truetrac if you don’t see a cross shaft.
