Does anyone have any instructions for the Smog delete? I'm thinking that is part of the problem with my '87 car. I took it to have the injector cleaning done and still no change. The tech thought it might be a vacuum leak but he could not find it. His thinking is its a leak in the brake booster since the pedal is hard. Anyway, I'm going for the booster now. If I had something I could go by, instruction wise, maybe I could trouble shoot it better because the previous owner took the smog pump off. A link is fine or something here would be good.
Symptom is terrible idle and no power anywhere in the power band.... bad miss.

Thanks guys. Issue with checking the timing is there are no marks left on the pully so I can't tell what its set at. I also agree that as long as ALL the vacuum ports are pluged, it should run right.

Is it possible that an EGR from a '91 will not fit an '87 and seal properly? I thought they should be interchangable, but maybe not. That is a part that I swapped out without really thinking about it. If its not sealing properly, that is a possible vacuum leak source.

The timing marks should be on the balancer, behind the crank pulley.
You may have to clean it off some to see them.
I couldn't find an article on FordMuscle on timing, but I found this one. There are plenty more out there if you do a basic internet search.

The EGR valves are the same for 87-93, and probably up through 95.
Did you clean the old gasket off and put a new one on?
Is the vacuum line going to it hooked up on both ends?

Thanks for the link Saw. I've used that site too as well as the Corral. I used the old one at first but it leaked, so I bought new ones and thought I had it. I did reuse the one on the vacuum tree under the manifold. Guess I'd better start from scratch and work up. Man I hate pull that thing again but if that's it, it's worth it. BTW, like your plow truck signature above. Reminds me of Dad's old truck.
