Hell yeah! Tell us more about it.....looks like a 289/C4 ride like mine but mine is Spring time yellow. Show some interior and engine shots please! There's so much here at Ford Muscle and great guys to help you along the way on making that new 66 into what ever you want.

Well thanx. Yes it's a 289/c4. I just got it home and washed and cleaned the interior so I'll take some more pics later and post them up. It's been sitting for a few years due to a front transmission seal leak. So I'm gonna pull it out and have it re sealed. Probably change out the water pump, plugs and wires, gas etc.. Don't know if I should keep the rallys or get some steel wheels with center caps, really like that look, maybe some Red Line tires?

Welcome to the forums and congrats on finding a clean looking '66!

I think the best thing about the 66/67 body is that they'll look good in just about any configuration from bone stock to pro-street. It's a great body to work with.

As far as tires and wheels go you have tons of options. Summit racing sells redlines still if that's what you want to run. They're pretty reasonable in terms of shipping and overall cost. I buy my rear tires from them all the time as even if I buy them in town I have to wait for them to be shipped since no one carries the tires I run. You'll end up saving $$$ in the long run, even when you pay for mounting and balancing.

Keep us posted and if you have any questions just let us know, there's a ton of guys here that can answer anything you'd want to know.

kalirodding,

If you go to this website Woody's Fairlane Site! There is a part of it that will show you what different rims would look like on that 66....really option on the site.

Is that C4 a green dot? I bet it is, if there's a green dot on the selector indicator then it is. It works different then later C4's but still works for crusin around. Do you have the original owners manual, it'll come in handy.

Kalirodding,
Very nice looking Fairlane. You'll love everything about it, including eveyone coming up to you and saying "I remember when......had one"

If you really want to maximize youtr ownership you may want to consider joining the Fairlane Club of America www.fairlaneclubofamerica.com You'll enjoy the many benefits of membership including the clubs website. The most facinating thing about the club is it's bi-monthly magazine called the Fairlaner. If you'd like I'll forward you a free copy just to entice you to join ;-) Email me if interested at [email protected]

Thanx everybody for the advise. I'll definietly check out the links. So I cleaned the interior but the rain here hasn't let me do much yet. Can't wait to clean and get into the motor. Yes it does have the green dot, what does that really mean? And can someone explain what the codes mean or are? Like K or C Code Car. Here's some pics of the inside and engine. Engine hasn't been cleaned yet, neither has the carpet.

I think the green dot tranny is what they call a dual range selection. That means you have 1st gear which is all the way to the right/ then you have the green dot which is what you would call Drive....meaning if left in that green dot you start in 1st and automatically go into 2nd then Drive. Then if you select the spot just left of the green dot then you start in 2nd instead of 1st and it'll go into Drive by itself. This is Fords first idea of what the C4 should be but people didn't like it so Ford changed over to the Select range type which is what you find in later Fords with C4's meaning 1st, 2nd and Drive.
The green dot is fine for crusin around but weak for racing if you have over 300 hp, the input shaft on these green dots are smaller and tend to break. Also some good news is you can swap out the valve body for a later 67-69 C4 valve body and get the later gear selection that is favorable 1st, 2nd and Drive. Then you can select the gears easier for racing around when you get the need to. Hope all this isn't too confusing.

Looks like a really nice interior on her.....I don't know if you know but there are several good parts places to get quite a few new this and thats, there are also Mustang parts that'll interchange easy such as front disc brakes. Do you know what you want to do with that 66, restore it stock or modify it some?

Hey NiCe Ride!! Don't let go of the Steering Wheel, I mean don't sell it. That's a factory wheel they put on Mustangs, Fairlanes, etc. The center horn piece is missing but that can be bought.
Also
On the tranny, I've changed the Valve Body in both the Cruise O Matics C4 and C6. That's the only real differences. Then Just put the Shift Lever in the position to the left of the Green Dot. Knowone will know but you.

Rays66, Do you like that VB swap in your green dot? I've got a buddy rebuilding a VB for me right now who said we'll swap them come the spring time. I'm looking forward to it so I can have a little more fun with my 66. I've got two of the 67-69 VB's and plan on rebuilding one myself since I've never done one. Then just spray her down good and seal it up and put away for who knows what later, might get another old Ford that needs a swap. I saw Mac has these old 67-69 VB for this swap and they want around $325 or so! I also plan on putting a tranny cooler and temp gage in after we do the swap this spring. How much HP do you have with that C4 green dot? I was thinking around 270 shouldn't hurt that C4 if you don't over do it.

Very nice looking 66. Welcome to Fairlane ownership! The 66-67's has always been my favorite (except for maybe a Thunderbolt LOL)

Bought my 66 last spring, not as pretty as yours when I brought it home, but soon (Hopefully). ;)

Thanx guys on explaining the green dot for me. Well I got her running. I had to replace the thermostat, water pump and battery. Of course I also did the spark plugs, wires, etc.. Runs real good now. It had what appeared to be a stock muffler with no sound whatsoever. Really wasn't digging the sound, so I took it down and put True Duals on it.Two 40Series flow-masters. WOW, it definitely wakes you up now. I also painted the stock rallies( probably a dumb move) and changed the tires but they were not in very good shape and didn't know what to do with them. I plan on getting some new wheels soon so i figured what the hell. I'll try and keep you guys updated. Will post some pics tomorrow.
