I bought a sweet 63 original falcon futura with the 170 motor. Car is near showroom in condition but I'm having a problem when I take it out on the road it starts right up and runs real good but if i stop it it starts but when i give it the gas it kills. I think its vaporizing the fuel I tried putting a rubber hosr around the fuel line but its still doing it. Any suggestion would be appreciated!

Check the float height and choke operation on the carburetor to be sure it isn't flooding. Vapor lock is common during heat sink running ethanol fuel but shouldn't occur during driving conditions. Also check engine temperature and ignition timing to be sure there isn't excess heat generated under the hood. I'm assuming you are running a spacer under the carburetor. If not, install one.

Had about the same problem last month with a 1100 Autolite. While rebuilding the carburetor I notice the power valve stuck. Took a while to get it free and moving like it should after removing the half inch expansion plug that's not included in the rebuild kit.
