New Idler Arm's bushing diameter different from Idler Arm Bracket
I recently purchased a roller idler arm for my 1965 Mustang coupe, and I just got the original one off tonight. When I compared the bushing diameter on the old one with that of the new one, I noticed that there's quite a difference!

The old one has a diameter of 7/8" and the new one has a diameter of 5/8". Obviously something's out of kilter.

Were there different shaft diameters for the idler arm support bracket? My car has manual steering and it is a 1965 Coupe with a 289.

Did you check to make sure you got the right parts? I might guess that the 6 cylinder cars would have a smaller shaft but its just a guess. I don't know for sure.
