I have been a lurker on this forum for a while, but didn't post until I actually bought the Galaxie I have been looking at (didn't wanna jinx things!).

Well, on Labor Day I went and paid it off, and I am the proud owner of a 1966 Galaxie 500. It has had the 289 taken out and a 302 from a 68 Fairlane installed (roughly, I might add), but the body is actually straight, original, and well cared for. I grew up a hotrodder because of my dad, who was a paint and body man on the side, and he helped me develop that eye for a good car body to work on.

The interior is shot, ugly and smells like a gym bag, but since the car is unoriginal, I won't feel bad about not restoring it to stock. I plan to keep the bench seat, but transplant a bigger engine and go for broke in building my own interior and dash.

Just wanted to say "HI" and "jump in" now that I am a Galaxie owner.

And, yes, the wife has finally gotten over things. Sort of.
