I just acquired a 72 Montego MX Brougham with only 22,000 miles. The interior is absolutely mint, but obviously the car has been sitting for a while. Can anyone let me know what my first steps should be, and in what order. Thanks in advance. David
Depends what “a while” is. Say 10 years? Drop the gas tank and dump the now brown sludge and rust out. New fuel filter. Check master cylinder, fill it , pump the heck out of the brake pedal to see if the master holds pressure, and calipers/ wheel cylinders leak. Fill radiator with water, and after you get it fired up, check for leaks. I say water because why have antifreeze leak out on to the floor?
I’m sure I’m missing many more.
