Well I sold my 72 Comet GT. Went to a good home and he had been looking for just that car and color for a long time.
So now we have a new one. This one I saved from the crusher in Cali. 1 owner, actually was a "little old lady". She is gone and I got it from her 80 yr old son. Had to bring it back over Donner Pass in the winter. Oh baby.
This is the 2nd Zephyr (yellow one) I've owned. 1st one,(blue one I ordered from Mercury) is still on the road, or I should say drag strip, now with a 541 in it replacing the 460 I put in it.
So this one is going to get a 351W.

I went with a modular 4.6 DOHC in my Zephyr, mostly because i had the already built drivetrain on hand. Was a fairly straightforward swap and the car is a total blast to drive. Fits under the stock hood too.

Pulled the rear seat out and the gas tank. So far no real rust. Have to completely replace the 5/16" fuel line for a BBF. Sending unit was in good shape. Just to dam cold to really do anything right now.

Ah, I thought you already swapped the new acquisition somehow (damn that was fast!). 🤪 Oh, hell - you had a ton of room for that 32V. 😉

I swapped the drivetrain in pretty quickly, used a stock ECU and wiring. After chasing my tail for a while i realized the ECU was suspect so i installed a Holley Term X max and am super happy with it.

Thanks for those pics OP, my car had interior stripped when i bought it so it's good to see how it's supposed to be lmao.
@rickyracer1983 - do you have a drivable goal date? Summer or something?

By this time next year. Trying to do it without going deep in debt. Getting engine and trans next week. 460/C-6.

I like a 2 door Merc with a later model drive train. But that's just me. Nice

Well got a donor engine and trans, 460/C-6 out of a 79 Camper Special. From a humble beginning. That and got the bumpers powder coated. I got rid of the rubber baby buggy bumpers and the rubber strip. Never liked them anyway.

Bumpers look great!
I still have the bumperettes in the front, smash my knees on them all the time. Can't wait to take them off lmao

Your alternator fell off. Nice it came with the free protective grease and dirt coating. Well preserved, I imagine.

Just a guess, but thinkiing your last Zephyr had a decent rear in it. What are the plans for this one?

Looks like a 7.5 in the rusty shot now.

Blue one had a Currie Ent, 9". I used 4.30 locker for drag racing and 3.50s for street.
This yellow one, is also going to get a 9" rearend, I haven't decided on gears yet. I have a 3rd member setup with 2.75s in it, but probably change it to 3.40, 3.50 or 3.70.

Looking for a set of these taillights. 78-83 Zephyr or even the Fairmont's will work with a set. Picking this one up next week. already has a 302/C-4 in it. 1 owner, but she's rough, but for $500 hard to pass up. Any one have a 79-83 Fox 8.8 they want to get rid of?
Other one, she's getting the 460 started one, suspension (ordered a tubar K member and A-rms) Hooker headers, C-6 rebuilt this summer.
