my 2100 2-v carb doesnt get enough gas to it. i replaced the fuel pump and it still doesnt get enough gas.

i made sure the float was set correctly.

i put some gas in the carb bowl and the car started but the bowl didn't refill.

what could it be?

Did you check the fuel filter?

Sounds like a plugged fuel filter or pick up screen in the fuel tank unless you bought a faulty fuel pump. If you have a fuel pressure gauge hook it to the line going to the carb to see if there is any pressure coming out of the pump.. A smashed fuel line underneath the car can stop the flow. Have you had it on a hoist lift for any reason. I had one off those shop mechanics allmost shove the mufflers up though my floor once because he never placed the right spacer blocks between the hoist platform and the undercarriage .

i checked the filter, its clean.

i removed the pump to carb fuel line and bump started the engine an hour ago. nothing came out so im thinking the diaphram in the pump is broke.

as for the fuel lines, they didnt look kinked.

Sounds like it's your fuel pump .

If there are any hoses in the fuel line between the pump and tank make sure they are in good shape and not sucking air.

You may have also installed the pump wrong.

Did you check the filter on the pick up inside the tank? That could be your problem, especially if the car has been sitting for several years.

You can see if the problem is from the pump back by pulling the hose into the pump and then replacing it with a hose from small gas can to the pump. The pump should have no problem sucking the gas out of the can and pushing it up to the carb. If the engine runs ok like that then the problem is upstream from the pump.

got it running!

i tried puttster method. found out the pump didnt do anything.

when i installed a new pump and the car fired right up.

feels damn good to hear the engine run again.

hey guys,
im at another point where i dont get gas to my carb.

found that i have a leak in the fuel line.

i plan on replacing the entire line it with a 3/8 rubber line.

is that too big?

Go with 3/8" steel or aluminum the full length , then rubber at the ends.

That will save you a LOT of troubles later.

thanks FE but i just bought a rubber hose and attached it.

i still dont get gas to the carb.

i just replaced my fuel pump and still dont get any gas.

im gona replace the sending unit and see what happens.

anyother reason why my carb doesnt get gas?

Well then forget the big tank in the back. Just run the car from a 2 gallon tank zip tied to the fuel pump.

Wtf?

new gas tank,
new sending unit
new mech pump. (airtex, autozone brand non filter)
still NO gas to carb.

i siphoned the gas up the fuel line to the pump. plenty of gas spilled out. i reattached the fuel line to the pump and cranked the engine. no gas in the bowl...the bowl is still empty. i checked the float level and set it to carb rebuild kit specifications.

i added gas in the bowl. the engine started, it only ran with gas in the bowl.

i attached a second rubber hose from the pump to the tank. cranked the engine and still nothing goes into the bowl.

i disconnected the fuel line going from the pump to the carb and placed it in a small container and cranked the engine. nothing came out.

im thinking
-my cam eccentric is to blame....
-the mech pump from autozone died on me....
-the hose from the pump to the carb has a pin hole leak
-the fuel filter attached to the carb is completely clogged, again...

guys, could it be anything else ???

I am suspecting an installation error, or the eccentric isnt turning..... WAG....

Remove your gas cap and try it. If it works you have vent problems back at the tank.

Everything seems to point to the fuel pump or installation error of the pump. Even if there's a pin hole leak, if the pump works- there should be some fuel.
