Tearing my engine down for an overhaul. It’s a ‘62 221 V8. Things came to a halt when I ran into this. Was this a factory bolt head design, or switched to when engine was rebuilt 40 years ago?
Who makes a bit for these? I saw nothing online.

Yes, clutch head cap screws.
Sometimes called "butterfly" head.
Probably factory.
Holley notably used clutch head screws on 4bbl carb secondary metering plates.

Thanks guys. Searching the net I couldn’t find anything. But once I typed in clutch drive bits I came up with a few hits. I’m in a rural area so I’ll try the hardware store in the next town over to see if they have something

Success! Had to buy a cheap kit to get the bit, but it worked. Cost me $18 at the hardware store. Auto parts store had nothing. Thanks! 83F33671-DF2A-47F3-8E22-2022570BD491.jpeg BA5CDD64-EA2F-41F2-BE13-A46D14C437EA.jpeg 83F33671-DF2A-47F3-8E22-2022570BD491.jpeg

Yes those were "standard issue" on the early '62-63 engines. They changed to the more common setup in late '63 IIRC. It is possible to convert them to the '65-72 design ( one piece eccentric style)
