I put a FMS windage tray on my 92 Mustang (302 )

The dipstick is difficult to put in . I cannot get a reading.

Any suggestions ?

Is the engine in or out of the car?

If it's still out:
Remove the oil pan.
Put the tube & stick in and see where it hits.
Remove the stick, take a allen wrench and slid it into the bottom of the tube.
Bent the tube out a little.
Re-try the stick and see if it hits. If it hits, bend the tube a little more.

When you get it to clear you will need to remark the dipstick.
Pour in 4qrts (if your using a 5qrt pan), Start it up and let it run for a miute to circulate the oil, shut it off and let it drain to the pan. Pull the stick a scribe a mark for the new "quart low" level. Pour in the other quart and repeat. Scribe the stick for the new "full" level.
