Hello guys and gals...I have a peace of mind question...I just replaced the timing chain and gears in my '65 289, and I forgot to put the oil slinger back on the crank in my haste. I don't think this will be a problem, but I just wanted a little backup
Thanks in advance for the reassurance...

No problem, they stopped putting them in sbf's anyway.

If you run a closed PCV system it would be even better (more oil spraying around in there).

The only problem it will cause is it will start leaking oil out the front seal rather soon. That was its purpose, to keep oil from splashing right on the seal. KB

I havent run a slinger on mine for years now, no problems. I think some else asked the same question some time ago and many folks just chuckum, I can also tell yuo that I spoke to a well known ford engine builder about the same subject and he doesnt use as well, mainly because if it comes apart the pieces get in the oil then into the engine before you can say what the hell is that comeing out my exhaust.
