Ok, i bought a T5 tranny from this guy, useing the ID chart on this website. It is a 86.5-89 V8 tranny, according to the tag on the bolt. But i just ran the #'s off of the caseing (at 5speeds.com), they are
13-52-066-919
13-52-065-908
13-52-097-913
it shows that 2 of these numbers go to a 1984 mustang/capri 5 liter. I have one bum t5 that is out of a 1984 5.0 allready, with an 8 bolt bellhouseing, this one is a 6 so thats good at least. But should i still use it, is it really a 86.5-89 year, (which i have no idae why they used the case) or is it just another junk 1984, with a good tag(like someone switched them)? the guy gave me a 2 week return on it, so i need to know quick to return it or not, THANK YOU

Its possible that someone could have replaced the tag, however It could be one of the earliest of the 86.5-89 that ford used the leftover casings when building. the casings are the same i would think.

Check the bearing visible from the front in the case. It should be a Timken brand, showing that it is indeed an 86 and newer. (World Class) Check the casting mark in the top cover, which should say 86 (or higher) inside of a double lined circle.
