Trying to mount 28x9 slicks on my 67 stang. 4.5 offset 8" rim. I tried a friends slicks. They fit ok except once the rear end is loaded down a bit the tire will hit the fender well lip. My questions are.

1. How do i roll the fender well lip or possibley grind out the lip, if thats even a good idea.

2. What is the minimum amount of space "approx" there should be between the tire sidewall and the leaf spring.

Thanx alot everyone

1/2" should be a bare min. on both sides.

The best way I know is the ball bat method. Have a buddy in the car to help you. Place a wooden bat in the opening between a tire and the panel. Have your buddy drive slowly back and forth using the tire to make the roll. Make several small passes not 1 big one or it will shear the metal.
