My Comet's windshield is pretty pitted and scratched up from the wipers, and its pretty well impossible to see anything if I'm driving into the sun. So, I'm wondering if anyone has polished theirs, and if so, do you have any advice? I would expect that a replacement would be pretty tough to find, so I really don't want to screw mine up.

I've tried that kit - not really worth the trouble. It will take out only the finest scratches. IF you work it to hard you'll get swirl marks. You'd be suprised at how easy it might be to get a new windshield. We got one locally for the Mustang -and it was $180 installed. Mine was quoted at $225 installed and I really need to get it.

Hmm, thats interesting. I just assumed they would be hard to find because my dad is having trouble finding one for his 70 Torino. I guess I'll have to look into reproductions. I might try that polishing kit though too, I don't think any of the scratches are too deep, so it might help.
Thanks guys!

Try a local glass shop - not the big chains or the repop sellers. A "mustang" windshield was more expensive, Binswanger was about $50 more. This was a local place that got a recommendation from a friend.

I just installed a new PPG windshield in my 69 fastback. Not expensive at all. Also for Crazy_Garry...my neighbour just installed a new front windshield in his 71 torino sportsroof...same as a 70. No problem finding it and fairly reasonable too. Food for thought. Both glass were from PPG.
