We have had one heck of a time finalizing paint color for our 65. Would you all be so kind as to pick a color and give a small explaination why you chose that color? Keep in mind we will have minimal trim on our car. Window trim front and rear light trim. Thats it! Think of the orange car below how little trim we will have. We wont even have the piece at the base of the rear window that goes accross.

Thanks in advance for your input.

3 pics because this is a front runner.

Original color of our Gal.

Off the wall color but nice!

Then there is the yellow of my Cobra.

I say NO! But Dad tends to like it.

Have at it, Tell us your thoughts!

Have a good one all!
Wildo

1972 (6F - Bright Yellow Gold)

Why? It's not very popular. Seems like everyone who had a gold car painted it another color. The only gold cars I seem to see are carrying the original paint. Because of that, everybody thinks gold sucks because after 40 years it looks plain dirty. I'd like to see a fresh coat of metallic gold on an old Ford. Do the wheels to match like you've done. My two-cents.

Besides, wouldn't a Metallic Gold 65 Galaxie make a nice FordMuscle feature car?

Color depends upon your intended use. What kind of attention were you looking for? Show stopper? Statement maker? Trend setter?

I thought about going with a modern Ford color. 2006 Mustangs have some interesting colors that could translate well and are readily available. But then I decided to go with making my car look like a "new" old car and went with an almost white yellow.

If I had a four door -- Black&White cop car.

I don't know what color but pick something not everybody has. The gold idea is a good one I think. In addition to the gold comments, another plus is the dirt doesn't show that bad. Or at least it didn't on my old pontiac. I never realized how dirty it was until I washed it which wasn't that often. I'm not sure what that color was but believe it's what they called Ox Green. Only green I saw was under the gold where the hood was burnt. It was the original paint.

Black is a no go.

Mike, Is this what your speaking of? I am definatly digging it. I had it saved on my HD.

Ive looked at different modern colors that would keep the "old time" feel. And that lead to only one. The mist green color on the Ford 500. But I have gotten over that thought.

She is just a cruiser. I just dont want a normal 65 Galaxie color other then the burgundy.

Hey, I may be part owner of a 65 Galaxie. But one would have to be a fool not to love a 72-73 Torino!!!!

Esspecially yours or the gold one.

How about performance red from a 99 up stang? More for standout, but really a nice red. I don't know, but pewter is fast becoming a trend? It's all in presentation, and what you want of it. That may be enough to make up for trim missing, same as red. They are great stand alone colors.

I really like that new burnt orange metalic that appears on the new vette, dodge ram, and even the escape. I would go either full or something similiar to what I did but trade the blue out for the orange. I am more of a Custom Rodder type guy than a traditional Muscle Car Review guy though. Ford did a nice job giving us a canvas to create on, it's up to us to make it uniquely ours.

the Aqua colored one a few posts up is one I like- my first car was 69 gal in gulfstream aqua(code 'F').

while I'm not a big fan of red, I gotta comment on one- the new 'redfire' mustang color I think is one of the nicest shades of any color Ive seen in a long time- sunny/dark still looks sharp, its maroon enough not to scream at you like fire engine red, yet the heavy metallic still makes it stand out...stop by some new car dealers and check out some new paint in the sun- might help you decide...If I wasnt so partial to blue, my vista blue mustang woulda been redfire. the vista is really kinda dark for me, and looks a little purplish in the evening(not as much as the 05 sonic blue was though). I think if you'd see redfire on a car, you'd like it.

Might look more along the lines of this. Without the trim.
