Make sure that you leave at least .060 of material between the port and the pushrod hole. That's approx 1/16th of an inch. There's a simple tool called the Helgesen E-tool that's available from Dr Air (714-535-5748 that's made for measuring pushrod tube to port distance. It's very simple and shouldn't be a lot of money.
