A good MAACO job would even work. Some of them are 1 footers if you have a good one in your neighborhood. We have a great one here and there's many of their cars rolling around sporting their paint work, some for many years.

Hopefully you have a paint place around that also does good work.

:ROFLMAO: Right? I can't stand how many people have come up to me in my short ownership of the car and mentioned I need to leave it how it looks. I'm not against a good rad rat or some solid patina, but to me it deserves a second chance at life and a respray to match! It'll never be a show car, but hell if it could be a decent 10 footer I'd be more than happy! :ROFLMAO:

Thank you! They are 20" mobsteel detroit wheels. I am trying to find the rear sill plates and also the front quarter glass and door weather stripping. I am also having a hard time finding any documents that state what turn signal switch that I need. It seems like 62 was an odd ball year.

Hi to all,
I‘ve just signed onto the forum . My recent purchase of a 1964 Galaxie 500 convertible has really taken me down a fun rabbit-hole . Already the leaf springs , bushings , hangers and rear brake lines and hoses have been changed out . I’ll be moving forward to some minor electrical issues next . We took the Gal out for a maiden voyage last Sunday up and down along the upper Delaware River area and had a blast .
Glad to be part of this .

For mine next is a new or modern fuse block, then cleaning up under the hood . This past weekend I installed two LED discs in my taillight’s housing , extra bright now . 😎 Gotta get a new boot for the vert .

Make sure you don't get the economy boot with the snaps on the outside. The original style the snaps are hidden. I can get you the part number if you like. Or email them and ask for the other. They show a pic of the hidden and send the other one usually.

I'll just post it here for you. I contacted Mustang Market about the boot covers asking why one pic showed hidden snaps but when ordering they send the exposed snap version. The hidden snap type is also easier to fit as the snaps slide to the sides a little bit so alignment is easier. JD researched for me using an old part number I had and found it was still the correct number.

This is an excerpt of the email I received. This was in 2017 so the price could be higher now.

Ok, I found the part B231, which has the snaps installed and they are not visible from the top. The cost is 179.03+15 shipping. She will need to call in and ask for me though as this would be a special order or provide an email to send a paypal invoice to please. We are here until 5pm eastern time 540-896-9620 j.d.

If you ever have issues with getting the boot snapped on there because the top frame is too high, pull the fold of the top that is pinched in where the top frame folds. Put the top up part way or stop half way when putting it down and pull that fold out so it folds towards the trunk then the top frame will fold tighter and be lower. Always done this with mine and I've had it 45 yrs. Even with my funky fake top I have on there now. lol

Another tip that you can take it or leave it is to unzip the rear window before putting the top down if you still have the glass rear window. The tops as they age, stretch and get a little saggy and the glass will sometimes hang up on the rear of the seat instead of slipping down in the hole and the rear bow will come down and break it. Many have told me they never do and have never had one break and others say they do now because they broke one that way. Mine still has it I believe, but there used to be a sticker inside on the rear bow above the window saying to unzip and lower window before lowering the top. Most of those stickers are long gone on the cars now days. So it's purely a choice to do or not to do. Just thought I'd let you know it's a possibility.

Love your car btw, there's one convertible and 2 hard tops here that are black and one red with black interior convertible also. My favorite car!!
