I have a 1971 mustang coupe with a 302 on the fritz looking to rebuild with the most efficient well rounded power band for a street strip combo. I'm open to any and all suggestions starting at the radiator all the way to gearing tranny and sneakers for the ole girl to lay down surprising quarter mile times and still drive home without breakin the bank.

If you want to rebuild your 302 block then bore and stroke it to 347 cu.in. A good set of heads and a nice roller cam will make it turn on real well. But if you really want to bump it up start with a 351W block and bore and stroke it to 408. You can use the same heads so the cost differential vs the 347 in nada. The stroker kits are not major $$$ different either. I went the 347 route and really like the 347. But I get my butt kicked every day by the 408 guys at the track. Have fun. Either way is great it just depends how big an 'ole boy you wanna' be.
