I did side work for Auto Appraise LLC. out back east somewhere. Charged them $50 per hour inspection time, usually 3 hour inspection, on a Lift or jack stands, every single nook and cranny, 300 PLUS photographs no matter what size automobile.

This place looks decent, and I still do side inspections for people but my cost is far more than $50 per hour now as it normally takes me 5 to 8 hours out of my work day at my shop to do an inspection. So that compensation must be met or I don't do the job.

I saw some fantastic work by other restorers, and some shoddy work by some reputable west coast shops...

I emailed the same people too and no darn reply. Might of got a gazillion replies but if that's the case, out of all those someone would buy it, remove the ad and if they don't buy it repost it, it's not that difficult! Amazing how many don't reply no matter what car and it'll be listed for a week until the ad expires. Hmmm, I wonder why?

I saw a 57 Chevy on a transport truck that came from a shop back east going to a guy in Salinas, CA that used road signs for floor boards. The restore shop had a good rep too. Blue me away. If you can't get away to inspect it or have someone from this forum or from one of the other forums you belong to, I would pass if the car was big money and in this economy

Shot I know what ya mean tryin to find a car for your boy-son... have been doing the same with my youngest. He not as big as yers but hes still pretty large as far as "kids" go... He tried a few of the econo boxes and they ALWAYS broke.... And he complained of not fitting etc.. finally found a bigger beater for him and so far so good, other than the may-pop tires that came on it... Ended up with a mid 100k mile '92 merc grand marq. 4.6v and all the crap they come with... So far hes basically happy with it other then the occasional forgetting to unhook the already installed aftermarket radio (that WILL kill the bat overnight). gets really decent mpg, and he def dont drive it like grand pa.... lol

boy-son is something you find in Thailand or the Philippines, MAN-BOY is what happens when your 12 year old is 8 foot 14 inches and 250 lbs!

LOL FE!
I've seen a couple crown vics, don't know their mileage but the caddy seville actually says they get pretty good on line, 26 hwy or so which would beat the 17 on the truck and probably 12 in town. Plus with the bigger cars you have much more comfort! I told him if he breaks down and decides to get a pickup get in touch with his grandpa, maybe he'll give him a good deal on the ranger he has or maybe the courier isn't bad. Don't know bout that one really, he inherited it and when he sells the inherited ones he gives the family of the deceased half or something like that. The guy wanted to fix it up so don't know it's condition. So will see down the road. The good part on the ranger is although it has a lot of miles we know how it was driven the last 10 yrs!!
The only good thing that came from the Escort is he got to learn how to be towed and he realized when it's your car you actually do want to clean windows and stuff unlike mom or dads car/truck. His ride is out there somewhere!! And we bought it from an honest guy who already reimbursed him for half and when we can get rid of the $hitbox if it doen't total what he paid for it the guy is going to make it right. The guy deserves and award, especially a craigslist seller!!

And FE said stang wasn't worth what the seller wanted darn it all!! That kid of mine even likes those little ugly metropolitans and keizers, but again that isn't cheap, nor the VW bugs which i know a huge friend that drives one of those in hollywood.
