Building the factory 289 in my Galaxie until I can afford more cubes. Was planning on simply going Carb,Cam,Intake,Headers..Probably all Edel. Perf. RPM Hardware. Any idea what type of number a very simple build like that puts down? Factory bottom end, and heads. You guys feel that its a safe bet to run the Performer RPM package instead of guess work? Also... what is a safe lift limit on the factory heads and springs running factory pistons? Thanks for any help.

If I was you I would get the heads to. With that set up if every thing else is right I would think you would be up over 300 flywheel hp if you had the heads to go with the cam, intake, headers, and carb. Keeping the stock heads and not porting them would really hurt power production with those other parts your planning.

Just posted this in the all tech area....but wanna make sure you guys see it.... while I run the 289 for now, should I go steep gears, high stall, and try to squeeze the revs out? Will not be a daily driver for now, so I can afford some stall etc... Whatta ya think? Better off dual plane? single? etc...

250-275 maybe, It's stock in unknown condition, with stock heads. You will need springs and should at least freshen the heads.
