Since the 77-9 thunderbird and 72 and up torino and similar bodied steering boxes will fit a 65 does anyone know if they are a quicker ratio,my 65 country squire could use a box and if they have a quicker ratio I will put one in it. Jeff

They do have a quick ratio box. It is 3.5 turns lock to lock. I ordered one from this place. http://www.larescorp.com
it is part # 841. They did not have one in stock but they built one up and sent it in a couple of days. It cost around $175 with shipping and a core charge to get it.

Am I reading this Right? it shows a part# 840 for a 62 Galaxie which is the same part number the 70's Fords???

If so I'm off to the bone yard for a Power steering Box!

I heard the boxes are the same from 65 to 79 but do not know for 64 on back,if you can get a box cheap try it as those 64 on back power systems were prone to leaks and expensive to repair. Jeff

Looks like I'm stuck with work until Wednesday. I will probably pull a box from my parts car and take it with me to compare. I would love to be able to put the late model PS pump from say a 76 Ford truck and later model box.

Ok, now we have another retrofit to add to the mix. I just let a 79 cougar go to scrap without the getting the steering box. What is the ratio lock to lock on the stock 65 gal as opposed to the 79 tbird????
