64 Galaxie with factory AM 'sound system'. Radio is ultra low, then crackles a bit and eventually comes to normal volume. Is this a fuse issue? Seemed to me if it were a fuse issue it simply wouldn't work at all. I've wiggled the wires and there seems to be solid connection at all points.

that'd make sense actually. Weird that it went from working perfectly to cracklin' Rosie in a day though.
I'll pull it out and give it a cleaning tonight.

Sometimes just cranking the volume pot full up/down a dozen or so times will clean up the wiper in the pot, if not, it probably has to be replaced...

Like your momma told ya, STOP PLAYING WITH IT... LOL

I normally clean the entire unit with Denim (yes Levis denim) and alcohol and spray my control knobs with it and work them both ways and blow them out.

Normally works just fine.
