I have my car up and running and I would like to know if anyone can breakdown the I.D tag on my 64 Galaxie, it is the tag on the third member with the following letters and numbers---( W8S-A02 ) on the top line and beneath that is
( 3.00 4EC160 ) can you tell me more than it is a 3.0 to 1 rear gear? Thanks in advance. Bill Bailey

I don't see anything like that in my book for a 64. WBS- and then 2 letters. Which it would be easy to mistake an "S" for a "5". I don't know a lot on reading those and rely on my book telling me large or small bearing and size of rear etc. Well, other than what you know already 3:01.

Sorry for the first post, I wrote the tag I.D wrong, it is
W8S-A02
3.00 4EC160
I will take another look at it tomorrow to see if I made a mistake. Thank you all for your help,

I corrected the above I.D numbers on 6-3-06

Sorry to take so long in getting back to you, I just discovered I made another mistake on the I.D, it is (W8S-A02) on top line and is (3.00 4EC160) on lower part. I got real close this time and had a good trouble light. It is definately a 9" because I tried the socket on the lower 9/16" nuts and it does not go. I hope this makes sense to someone. Take care friends,
Bill Bailey

It should be letter letter letter - letter number or letter letter
Also a 9" also has a hump in the back.
8" does not.

What is this in anyway?

C2=Conventional (open) 2 pinion
2 pinion has one pair of Spider gears as opposed to 4.
It is lighter duty.
