i have an 8" rear end non-locking in a 65 mustang.would a mini spool be a good way to get the rear end to lock for streeet use?

It would work, if you dont mind the tires screeching on corners, and broken axles. You need to have some slip on the street, or things will break. Spools and mini-spools should be considered as track only.

I shimmed the spider gears in my 9" with one extra shim and it seems to be somewhat of a limited slip. You really have to reef on it to make it slip it's a little jerky when it slips but I would rather have the jerk than the whole car slamming all over the place. The 8" rears are almost the same as the 9" I used the 8" shims to shim my 9"

I have not driven it yet but it's in the car and with the wheels on you can't turn the wheels by hand when it's in gear.
