I have a trunk mounted battery with a trunk popper (also door poppers). In the event my battery goes dead I need a way to get into the trunk. My solution is to install remote battery charging posts somewhere under the hood. Can i run a 6 AWG wire from the positive post of the starter to the red remote post or would it be better to have a dedicated 6 AWG wire direct to the battery? If it matters I do not have a starter solenoid since I have a gear reduction starter.

adding a wire wont help. just connect at the starter

Put them on the rear valance anyway. That way you can charge the dead battery too.

i would put the pos one under the hood. no need for the neg. just connect to the block. out from under the hood you could(in an accident) short out the battery and cause a fire.

Put them on what ever side the battery is on. Some people just put the in the area under the trunk lid. Is this a racer only or street also?

If you still have the factory solenoid location then this isn't necessary.
In the event of a dead battery hook positive to the solenoid battery side and negative to anything metal.

I ended up mounting two posts in the bottom of the trunck pan that can be acessed under the car. They are covered with rubber boots and are hard wired direct to the battery in the trunk.
