I've recently became the proud owner of a true barn find; a 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 2 door hardtop/fastback. I'm in the process of sanding her down for primer and paint however I'm at a road block. I need to remove the front and rear windshields so I can sand, prime, and paint properly but I'm not sure how to remove them. The front windshield needs replaces anyway because its cracked but the trim around both are in fantastic shape and I don't want to mess them up by removing them wrong. How do I remove the winshields and windshield trim? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats on the barn find and it being a 67, they're getting harder and harder to find that aren't one big piece of rust.

The trim can be a pain if the chrome trim is stuck down with some of the window sealant. Try using a putty knife under the trim from the front and slowly work the trim up. The clips holding it down can be rusted or stuck with old sealant. Take your time and move it in slow increments and it will eventually come out. If you are doing paint anyway you could use a bit of solvent or paint thinner to help soften the old window sealant stuck to areas of the trim that are holding it down.

So it doesn't take any special trim tools to remove the windshield? I guess you remove the door side trims that have screws and then the top and bottom trim pop off the clips vs slides off the clips?

I need to change mine also, who did you find with the glass and what price please?

Sorry it took so long to respond, being a fulltime college student kills my free time during the week. Anyways thank you for the tips, I've already started on the front windshield by removing the wiper cowl, the weather stripping and chrome over the passenger door amd the chrome windshield trim on the passenger side. As far as a replacement, I spoke to a place called Pilkington and they quoted me about 450 with shipping included.
