Hi everyone.
On my car the mechanical fan rotates counter-clockwise, that is, when you are sitting in the car. I was thinking about upgrading from my stock 4 bladed fan to a 5 or 7 bladed fan, hoping that it would help with cooling a little. While at the junkyard today I was looking at a bunch of 70's Ford trucks hoping to find a heavier duty fan, and I noticed the shape of the fan blades were opposite the way mine are. As if the fan turns in the opposite direction.
My 289 is from 1963. The first year they were made. Did they change the direction of rotation at some point? If so, what car would be a good donor for a fan, an early stang? I'm assuming they put a heavier duty fan on factory-air cars.
Thanks for any help.
Steve.
