The rotation was changed in the early '80s I believe. Several of the serpintine belt setups are reverse rotation, but not all.
Does you 63 have a fan shroud?? They make a BIG difference. How about the spacing? My '64 Galaxie 289 had a 6" spacer to get the fan up to the radiator(I believe the '63 spaced the radiator toward the fan). I used a 1 1/2 spacer with a four blade fan, when I installed the 390. Tried a seven from a AC 390 but it sucked so much HP I took it off.
