Can anyone tell me for sure if I can use the Crane roller lifters and a roller cam in my 351C.??
I read the "Ragin' roller" article but it didn't address the '71-'74 351C blocks.
Thanks,
Jon

Yes. CHeck to see if the std base circle roller cams are available however. You might find it's cheaper to go with the reduced base circle kit instead.

The reduced base circle kits that use the OEM lifters cant be used for every block.
My early '70 351C has short lifter bores and the dog bones are hit by the lifters even with the reduced base circle.
I bought the SVO (Crane) link bar lifters, and everything worked well.
Anyone want to buy my OEM lifters, dogboens and spider?

Interesting...I have a '70 block with Comp Cams rollers, dog bones, spyder bar and don't have a problem. I wonder what's different?

Would the difference perhaps depend on how much lift you each have?

In my digging for the truth on the retro-fit issue I came across a post that indicated the different base circle was also needed to ensure the lifter went low enough in its bore to pick up the oil feed.

It was a custom Comp XE profile.
230 duration @ .050, 110 LDA
I think it is the #3315 lobe on both the intake and exhaust.
This is a streetable profile, not a max effort cam by any means.....
I think it cost $240 or so....

I am running the Ford OEM bodied roller lifters, that are modified by Sherman to only have 0.015" plunger travel, dog-bones and spyder with a custom MME hyd roller that has 0.640" lift on both sides. I believe my block is a late 71, but I'm not totally sure on that. Leave it up to Ford to change the lifter bore heights during the production run.
