Does anyone know for sure whether the fuel map is different in the Speed Density computers from '86, '87 or '88? I would think that because the heads and intake are so different between '86 & '87 (200hp compared to 225hp) that perhaps Ford used a different map. Thx.

I doubt the fuel maps are much different. As long as the car has stock heads/cam stick with the SD.

I conveted a '86 5.0 Mustang from SD to mass air and it went from 14.50s to 14.70s. Only mods were 1.7 rockers, underdrive pulleys, and a 2 1/2 cat back exaust system. Switched it back and regained the .2.

I'm planning to change to E7TE's with a little port work and go to a B OR E303 camshaft. I wondered if I would still be ok if I found an '87 SD computer in the place of my '86 one.

A cam such as the B or E will require a mass air conversion. With a performance cam there is not enough vaccum to the MAP sensor. You will have a extremely rich idle. If you keep the cam down to about 215*@.050 you can get by with the SD.
