Hey Guy's, Knowing there are no people with more knowledge of the early year Mustangs then the people here, I would like to ask a question and hope someone can answer it. Well, I am in Hawaii and a friend of mine just bought a 67 fast bask (really nice condition) and it is not registered in Hawaii yet since it just came to the Islands last week from California. Anyway the last number on the VIN tag is missing and they will not let him register the car because of that. What I want to know is where does Ford stamp that VIN number onto the frame? (the hidden number) I know they do, but I have no idea where it is.

You're in luck. Happens to be on the front drivers side fender apron. Its stamped into the sheetmetal, beside where the drivers side shock mounts under the hood.

Starting I think in '68 they started putting little plates on the passenger side in the windshield on the dash.
