do i need any more than one shim to install a C5 behind my 460.I allready have the BELL.You know the shim thats behind the flex plate.Or is it a trial and error thing?

It's more or less trial and error but generally it takes 3 C-6 spacers to get the right converter freeplay clearance with a stock bellhousing and the J.W. Performance SFI bellhousing doesn't require any spacers.

you must have to shim the starter to.Shimming the bell would move the starter closer to the flex plate.

The starter doesn't actually move anywhere by adding the shims.The starter and flexplate stay in the same positions and the extra shims move the bell housing + convertor back.I am refering to using the std type full plate..
