I have a 1966 mustang, it is a daily driver and i want to put something in, in place of my 3 speed toploader. What would be a better choice, put the T5 in it and put like 4.11 ring and pinion in, or put a 5 speed where the 5th gear is 1:1 and mabye a 3.00 ring and pinion? Which combo would be best for road racing, say 1/4 mile and less. I travel like 70-75 max on the freeway so not too fast. Also i know that the T5s are good to about 325Lb/torque what is my 3 speed good for? thanks

Money wise, you're going to be better off with the t-5. I'd stay with the overdrive and get the steeper gears. I think the three speed was good to about 300lb.
