I have come across a 289 from mexico, i guess these are stronger than normal 289s because of the higher nickel content. I want like 340-350 horse power out of it. I will then be useing a 100 shot of NOS. Should i use the strong 289 or just get a run of the mill 302? thanks for any help.

firdt off it is nitrous not NOS
second at about 350 hp you can run a 302 with out any worrys, just maybe some studs in the bottom end

and I thought that the 289 mexicos were thicker due to less nickel content

N2O. Technically the short form is N twenty I guess. NOS is easier to say than NITROUS OXIDE or in Texas its NAWS, cheater bottle, funny fuel, goofy gas. Maybe in Cali or Bahhhhhstannnn they say Nahhhhhhssssssssssssssahhhh.

Which ever small block you build you will need some good rods to run that much horse pressure. Turning up a 289 or 302 to 360 or 370 natural and then spraying it with another 100+ will probably also need o ring's for the heads because of the compression. Unless you are running some significant tires it will have no traction whatsoever.
