This was with the free Engine analyzer 3.0 by performance trends.

I was screwing around just looking at differant cams with a similar setup as mine. The program does not have 4v cleveland heads, so these are #s off of 2v heads with 2.16 and 1.65 valves. 10.5:1 Compresion. Ok question is this:

I ran 3 cams. all three were recomended, and ofcourse, I chose the "Best" one. The Choices were:
280H .53"I .53"E 230 I 230 E
305H .585"I .585"E 253 I 253 E
32-638-5 (solid) .564"I .589"E 246 I 256 E

Now, I always heard the Solid will make MORE POWER...everywhere. And will rev higher, then the hydraulic. Well I did 12 total dyno runs, with 16 differant categories. This is a synopsis of the results.

2000-6500 RPMs with 500 RPM Increments.
(SOLID)
TQ 416 @5500 Avg 323
HP 493 @ 6500 Avg of 289

280H same 2000-6500 range 500 incriments was:
TQ 401 @5500 Avg 324
HP 478 @6500 Avg 285

305H Same 2000-6500 range 500 incriments was:
TQ 408 @6000 Avg 278
HP 500 @6500 Avg 259

3000-7500 RPM range 500 Incriments was:
(SOLID)
TQ 416 @5500 Avg 364
HP 493 @6500 Avg 371

280H Same 3000-7500 range 500 incriments was:
TQ 401 @5500 Avg 361

I only wrote all that out so you guys can see with me what I am seeing. What I am seeing is the Solid wins the most categories. Of the 16 Categories, the solid wins in 10 of them. 305H 5 280H 1.

What I am wondering is is that what the solid cam is supposed to do (make more power pretty much everywhere, but not as high RPM?) or am I mislead? The only place where the solid got beat up by the 305H is 5800-6700 RPMs with 100 incriments. Other then that the 305H made more HP EVERY TIME except the 5800-6700 100RPM inc.

What is the deal though, was I wrong in my thoughts??

Thanks for clearing that up...Does this seem accurate? I had a Desk Top Dyno run my motor at 515 HP @6500, and 455 Foot lbs. I imagine that is with 4v heads as well?

Well, theoretically it makes sense. However, I doubt you get get a hydralic cam to rev that high? I mean, I don't think, by design that hydraulic cam/lifters can rev that high becasue of the need for the lifter to bleed off and then pump up again. At the higher rpm's there just isn't enough time for this process to happen. However, I wonder if with Rhodes lifters or anti-pumpup lifters if this problem would be solved. But my first impression would be that you couldn't get that cam into that high of rpm range becasue of the limitation of design of the hydraulic lifters. I may be wrong, anybody else have an opinion, or idea to straighten out two Sac State students?

Beer? thats **** man. Try stepping up to the plate and try Whisky or Goldslaguer or 151. But thanks for the invite, I can't drink, becasue of the heart attack and the medication, it will thin the blood even more, and I could possibly die. Thats bad news man!
Gotta love them dorms!

Ohh yea, forgot about the worlds youngest heart attack victim. Hell whiskey? Aint no biggy. If I drink hard stuff I will just drink vodka straight. Well this turned from a tech to a BS session. I will Email ya.
