No pics sorry.
67 Ranchero 289 C code C4. Edelbrock Preformer intake and an Edelbrock/Weber Performer 600cfm carb. 17 in. vacuum at idle, idle speed at 550 hot in drive. Per previous owner he put an RV cam in it. Otherwise stock internals. He converted it to Duraspark Ignition too. Timing is 6deg. Plugs have about 3000 miles on them.
Plugs 1-5 and 7&8 the porcelain is a reddish color(not tan) and dont show any deposits. Electrodes show hot spot is just at the top curve of the electrode. Number 6 the porcelain is a whitish/tan (more white) and no deposits. The #6 electrode looks like the porcelain (tan)white with no hot spot.
Do I have a problem with #6 or the rest? Lean? Rich? Running Autolite 45's gapped at 35. Cleaned and swapped plugs around to different holes same color result for #6 hole. I've never seen red porcelains before.

The red color is from fuel aditives. The white is probly a little oil getting into the combustion chamber from the guides or past the rings. I would not worry about either problem. One thing I find a little odd is the 6 degrees of timing. Why so low?

California gas(MTBE) and a 2 row radiator. Engine likes to ping when I run it at 10deg. or higher. I haven't got the cash for a bigger radiator or fan setup right now.

I double checked #6 and it must be the orientation of the ground electrode.....It is red too especially on the other side!!

The red color is from a fuel additive I sell and use in all of my cars and boats to ensure against detonation!!
It is sold in third world countries to increase octane of very low grade gasoline. It will actually bring 82 octane fuel up to 87 or more for about $.10 a gallon!! A byproduct is improved fuel mileage...up to 15% or more depending on driving habits!!

The improvement is not as great on 89 and 93 but it still prevents detonation and has been proven time and time again in Harley Davidson motorcycles!!
It also protects valves in much the same way TEL did in the past but without the abrasive qualities of TEL and it isn't poisonous!!

PS: If anyone is interested in the additive PM me and I will email you info.
