Was recently working on my Ignition problem on my 87 Crown Vic with a 5.0 lt FI. Found out the problem was with the ignition module and I have replaced it. Along with the coil, pickup, wires cap and rotor. It need all of them, it has 86000 kms. My Problem is now after timing it to about 9 BTDC I have a miss but only when the SPOUT Connector is plugged in. I had to remove the connector to time it but as soon as I put it back in, it missed. I am drive it now without the Spout in and it seems to run just great. My question is: Am I doing harm to the ignition or ECU without the Spout connect and can I still run without it. The milage even seems a little better. THANKS>>

No you won't hurt a thing....unless it is so retarded with the spout "out" that the manifolds glow red...then you may have a problem or two.

I used to have the spout wires hooked up to a switch that worked off of the clutch on my old SVO. When I flipped a switch and pushed the clutch pedal down, it would disconnect the spout...and I could have boost with no load. Great junkyard way of launching the car with boost. You couldn't launch with boost without doing that...and with that big ol' turbo (Holset) it wouldn't get any boost at all until around 2500 and full boost by 3800...so I had to rig a means of launching with some power.

You did set the timing with the spout out right? I think I read it right...just checking
