Sta-bil fuel treatment and rough idling

990 Views 1 Reply 2 Participants Last post by  FEandGoingBroke
My 65 gal with 390 4v sat in the garage since late october of last year. I put sta-bil gas treatment in it to be completely safe. I started it up and ran it yesterday after priming the engine oil with about 5 seconds of cranking with the coil wire on. When I put the coil wire back on it started right up, but had to keep my foot on it to keep running. Once it stayed running it ran really rough making the whole engine shake a bit. When I drove it though it was smooth as silk. Anyone ever had problems with sta-bil making thier engine run rough at least at idle???

allow the carb some time to let the gaskets get used to fuel again and swell up. That ans check the plug wires for resistance and points for adjustment, and plugs for cleanliness.
