When i bought the tranny and converter..he said it was a coan 3200-3800 stall...he used it on a 351w

now in my car..and stock 302 with a vortech s trim...it doesn't stall at all..its like a stock converter!! like 1800-2000 rpm

does the amount of power the engine makes effect the rpm of the stall?

also he used dextron in it. i'm using hy-gard 6354..i've read that the hy-gard and lower the stall abit..

Yes, power(torque) output of the engine will directly effect stall speed as well as gear ratio, type of tires, car weight, brakes.

Hy-gard can effect stall speed a bit but not as much as you are seeing. Your smaller engine likely makes a bunch less torque without boost.

it seems i'm able to flash the coverter to 3200 crusing from 1000rpms in 3rd.

guess i'm going to have to get a new converter if after my heads, intake and cam swap the motor doesn't match the power of the old combo
