Finally got around to pulling the steering box out to change the lecking sector shaft seal. I'm putting in a new rag joint while I'm at it.
With the box out I noticed that the steering wheel shaft just flops around loose inside the shift tube. Is this right?

The workshop manual shows a nylon bushing but it doesn't show whether it goes on the steering shaft or inbetween the shift tube and the column tube.
Can anyone shed some light on this one?

While I've got the box out, are there any other parts on it I should be replacing? I,m probably going to have it rebuilt although it feels reasonably tight. Any suggestions?
