I went back and looked for some #'s I found D1VE on the block which from my under standing is a 1971 lincon block and the rods were C9AE making them 1969 galaxy. Does anybody know if this set up would be internaly balanced,or externaly

It should be internally balanced. Look behind the front crank pully/harmonic, there is a sleeve type spacer there. If it is externally balanced there will be a hatchet type piece added to the sleeve as a weight. The internally balnced will just have a smooth sleeve.

1979-up 460's are externally balanced from the factory; 1968-1978 engines are internally balanced.

The internally balanced engine has a crank spacer right behind the harmonic balancer that is nothing more than a sleeve, really; the externally balanced crank's spacer has a "hatchet weight" incorporated onto this sleeve/spacer.

The edge of a crank counterwieght that is stamped "2Y," "2YA," "2YAB," or "2YABC" is an internally balanced crank, while a crank that is stamped, "3Y," "3YA" is externally balanced. (Or possibly no markings is usually externally balanced
