I know this issue is all over the intertubes, but I have yet to find the resolution. I'm building a 351w but have a '68 302 for parts. I bought a '69 351w through Scott Drake # 690z-6754-A. Something just isn't right. The 302 tube is 10- 1/4" from cover entrance to the top end. The new 351w tube is 12- 7/8". The only real reason for a different tube, is the mounting tab is about an inch farther up on a 351. Of course the 302 stick which is 22- 11/16" is too short now.

I'm tempted to just cut the 351 tube to the same height as the 302, then use the 302 stick since I can't find an OE 351 stick. Ultimately, is the Drake tube correct?

The longer tube and higher tab will let you bolt it in-place with the taller block. I would use the 351W tube as-is, and get a longer stick to cut to length. Anything longer will work. Cut for the new tube length and re-mark.

I'm trying to keep everything OE looking so a universal stick won't work. From the stick selling on ebay, the seller writes: Ford used 4 dispticks in these years, so please compare and measure to be sure. I believe it. I think cutting the tube to the height of the 302 part will be the best option, this way I can use the '68 stick. I still find it funny that repop tubes are made for the 351, but not the stick.

Did you ask Scott Drake the length of this one- C2OE-6570-F which also transfers to later- C2OE-6570-B dipstick, I know they carry this one.
